PrepMaster XI+ (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of all users, especially children. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have regarding your personal information. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

2. Who We Collect Data From

  • Parents and Guardians — who create accounts and manage their child’s access.
  • Students (aged 9–10) — who use the app under parental consent.
  • Teachers and Admins — who access the content management console.

3. What Data We Collect

  • Account information: email address, display name, and role.
  • Usage data: questions answered, XP earned, streaks, test scores and subject progress.
  • Device data: device type, operating system version and app version (for crash reporting and compatibility).
  • Location data (optional): approximate location to sort nearby Grammar Schools. This is only used locally on the device and is not stored on our servers.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve the PrepMaster XI+ service.
  • To display personalised progress, streaks and XP to the student.
  • To allow parents to monitor their child’s preparation progress.
  • To ensure admin and teacher access to the content console is authorised.
  • We do not sell, rent or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted within Google’s cloud infrastructure. Firebase enforces encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to the database is controlled via Firebase Security Rules. We regularly review access permissions and security configurations.

6. Children's Privacy

We take the privacy of children very seriously.
  • Accounts for children must be created by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children without parental consent.
  • Parents may request deletion of their child’s account and all associated data at any time.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

8. Cookies

The PrepMaster XI+ web console may use cookies or local storage to maintain your session after login. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.

9. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:
  • Google Firebase — authentication, database and file storage.
  • Expo / React Native — mobile app platform (no additional data collection).
These services have their own privacy policies which we encourage you to review.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice within the app or on our website. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
